For Potty Training Your Puppy-choose smallest size crate, where dog can
only turn around. If crate is too large, puppy will soil on
one end and sleep on the other end!
Note: To Potty Train, at the beginning, start with one hour in the
crate, then 2 hours, then 3 hrs and work up to 4 hours.
Always take your puppy immediately to the potty area when you take him
out of the crate. As soon as the puppy eliminates, tell him,
“Good Potty” and give a yummy small
treat. Let him play about 20 minutes, and then return the
puppy to the crate. At first, bring him out in one hour,
repeat all of the above. Gradually work up to 4 hours , (1hr,
then 2hr, then 3 hr, then 4hr ) in the crate, then overnight.
At first, you will need to get up every 4 hours at night to train the
puppy until he gets the idea to hold it until you take him out to the
potty area.
Eventually, you will be able to leave your puppy in the crate
all night, and he will learn to hold it, because he will not want to
soil his sleeping area. Always take the puppy immediately to
the proper potty area when removing him from the crate, tell him go
potty (or whatever you want to call it) and when he does, say GOOD
POTTY !!” AND ADMINISTER A YUMMY TREAT, TELLING HIM
GOOD POTTY”
Then let him play, eat, drink, etc.
No food after 6pm, and No water for 3 hours before bedtime.
